The duo, Joseph L. Fazzino, age 30, and Michael Palmer, age 46, both of Hartford, were caught by K-9 Officer Mason after officers with the South Windsor Police Department responded to a call for a larceny in progress around 4:30 p.m., Monday, June 28.

When officers arrived at Cusson Automotive at 29 Mascolo Road, the two men were attempting to steal sheet metal from a recycling dumpster before taking off into the woods behind the business, said Sergeant Mark Cleverdon

After tracking into the woods, K-9 Mason and an officer located one of the men unresponsive and in need of medical attention.

"Without K-9 Mason's assistance, it is very likely this individual would have died," Cleverdon said.

The other suspect was caught by SWPD officers.

The two were both charged with larceny and released on a misdemeanor summons.
